Posted on Google Danielle Hinds My husband and I just got married a couple days ago and I booked with Lake of sky weddings. Process was super easy he answered any questions I had and was very help & kind. If you’re looking for a simple but gorgeous beautiful wedding I would highly recommend lake of sky weddings. My pictures came out amazing he was patient and kind and I will forever recommend them. We had a great time. We also got lucky with beautiful weather for December. Right after the wedding, we were able to see the pictures in the limousine on a TV, which was great and I love that we were able to get the SD card with all of the photos, honestly think that this was not overpriced. It was well worth our money our wedding was small but intimate and lake of sky weddings really help make our day special thank you so much!Posted on Google Diana Elliott We had our wedding on June 12, 2021. Everything went according to plan. Reverend Dorie was wonderful and Mr. Denniston was great! Easy going, funny and showed us the pictures before we went to our reception. If you wish to be stress free, this is the way to go! (On a personal note (11/ 9 / 23) we misplaced some of our pictures, 2 in particular with my sister who became ill. Jon was gracious to find them and sent them to us. It meant so much to us!) Thank you again! I would give this venue 10 STARS if I could...Posted on Google Lorraine Michelle My (now) husband and I are in our 40's, neither of us have been married, and we wanted something special. We reviewed one Tahoe company, but their fine print clauses (and other details) made us a little skittish, so I did some more research and found Dorie and Bill at Lake of The Sky. From the moment we reached out to them, I could tell we were dealing with experts, and experts who were truly passionate about making our wedding magical! We wanted a Thanksgiving Wedding, IN the mountains, where weather is mercurial. One wedding planner said she wouldn't even try, it was too risky. Dorie? No problem. Even better, we booked in the summer, and when I asked about contingency plans, if bad weather ensued, she had multiple options already lined up. She is an ACE. We, it's easy to say "I can deal with bad weather" when it's summer, but we actually experienced it. We were married 11/26/2019---right when an epic snow storm was coming. Dorie was ON it. She called us a couple days before, suggesting to move the wedding from 3:00 pm to the morning, but was still open to Emerald Bay. She then called the day before, making sure WE were still open to Emerald Bay. It was around 29* and a snowstorm was enroute, but as long as we were ok, with it, she was all over it. (She did provide me with multiple alternate options, a lower location, a chapel in town, but her focus was what WE wanted.) She actually even drove up to Emerald Bay the day OF the wedding, to make sure it was safe/not too windy. Who does this on a small, outdoor wedding for under 15 people? (Dorie does!) If I had picked ANYONE but Dorie and Bill, it would have been a nightmare with anyone else, and might not have even happened. Even our family commented on how amazingly professional and well put-together the process was. If you want a Tahoe Wedding, you ABSOLUTELY need Dorie and Bill. They shone in the worst of times (epic blizzard coming, etc.) and they genuinely care about making your day magical. Secondly, BUY the photography package. It is very affordable, and Dorie has a true art, she is passionate about everything from lighting, pose, you name it. On vows, since Dorie was doing the photography, Bill performed the vows, and he was amazing. He has a deep, solemn but warm voice, and he has an air of grace and depth that makes the moment feel even more cherished and serious. (But he is a natural speaker, and knows when to pause when you get choked up, etc.) It felt refined and cherished, he was amazing. Also, Dorie and Bill were able to secure us a wonderful Limo Coach for less than it would have cost booking alone, and the family loved this. All in all, Dorie and Bill are not only wedding experts, they are passionate about making your unique experience magical. Also, they KNOW Tahoe, weather, connections, suggestions, you name it. We were able to relax and focus on the wedding, and Dorie and Bill stayed on top of any and all curveballs. (And a Blizzard coming in? That's a heck of a curveball!) Finally, cost. Not only is the initial price amazing (local venues were looking to be 3-4 times more), what you see is what you get. There is no bait and switch, no nickle and diming. They are honorable, talented, GOOD people, who are passionate about making your moment magical. We are extremely lucky to have found them. I tend to be conservative on calling someone "the best," but "Lake of the Sky Weddings" with Dorie and Bill ARE the best. And remember, our wedding had a BLIZZARD come in the day of, and they STILL married us at Emerald Bay, and made all the changes necessary to give us what we wanted, but safely. Thank you Dorie and Bill! Our wedding was magical thanks to you both, and no one else could have pulled it off like you two did. You gave us our fairy-tale wedding, thank you Dorie and Bill, it would have been impossible without your dedication, passion and expertise! Lorraine and CyrusPosted on Google Dodie Wonderful
Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting and significant undertakings in a couple’s life. With the evolving wedding trends, it’s essential to have a solid plan that ensures your big day is everything you’ve dreamed of and more. Whether you envision a lavish ceremony or a small, intimate gathering, the key to a successful wedding lies in meticulous planning and organization.
This detailed guide on how to plan a wedding will walk you through each step, providing valuable wedding planning guides, advice, and ideas to help you navigate your wedding planning process with ease!
Planning a wedding can feel overwhelming, but breaking it down into a manageable step-by-step wedding planning process can make the journey much more enjoyable. Here’s a detailed wedding guide that covers everything you need for a wedding.
Before diving into the logistical aspects of how to plan a wedding, it’s crucial to sit down with your partner and discuss your wedding vision. This initial step is about dreaming together and aligning your ideas for your big day. What style of wedding do you both envision? This can include various themes, settings, and atmospheres that will shape every decision you make moving forward.
Consider your favorite colors, styles, and themes: Think about the color palette that excites you both, whether it’s classic white, romantic pastels, or bold, vibrant hues. Discuss styles and themes such as vintage, modern, rustic, or beach-inspired.
One of the first steps in planning a wedding is establishing your budget. The average wedding cost in 2024 can range significantly depending on your location, guest count, and overall vision.
When understanding how to plan a wedding, prioritize what elements are most important to you. Whether it’s a stunning venue, gourmet food, or a fantastic photographer, knowing your priorities will help guide your decisions.
List the Top Three Aspects That Matter Most to You: Sit down with your partner, and each make a list of the three elements you consider most important. This could be anything from having a live band to a beautiful dress or exquisite floral arrangements.
Allocate a Larger Portion of Your Budget to These Priorities: Once you’ve identified your top priorities, ensure that a significant portion of your budget is directed towards them. This will help you achieve the wedding of your dreams while making compromises on less important areas if necessary.
Selecting a wedding date is crucial as it affects the availability of venues and vendors. Consider the season, any significant dates, and the schedules of important guests.
Wedding Planning Tips for Couples:
Avoid holidays unless you want a holiday-themed wedding: Major holidays can complicate travel for guests and often come with higher costs for venues and vendors. However, if you like the idea of a holiday-themed wedding, it can add a special touch.
Check for significant events in your area that might clash with your date: Large local events, festivals, or conventions can lead to increased traffic, higher accommodation costs, and limited services available.
Your venue sets the tone for how to plan a wedding, and it’s essential to choose one that aligns with your vision and budget. Whether you choose a beach wedding package, a rustic barn, or a luxurious hotel, ensure it aligns with your vision and guest count.
Visit multiple venues: Compare different locations to see which best suits your vision, budget, and logistical needs. Pay attention to each venue’s atmosphere, amenities, and overall vibe.
Ask about inclusions like furniture, sound systems, and lighting: Venues offer packages that include essential items, saving you time and money. You can confirm what’s included in the rental fee to avoid unexpected costs.
Check availability for your preferred date: Ensure the venue is available on your desired date. If your preferred venue is booked, you might need to adjust your wedding date or consider alternative options.
Your guest list will heavily influence your wedding plans, including the size of your venue and your budget. Start by drafting a preliminary list with your partner and families.
Consider Your Venue’s Capacity: Ensure your guest list matches the capacity of your chosen venue to avoid overcrowding and ensure comfort.
Decide on the nature of your wedding: Decide whether you want an intimate gathering, a medium-sized event, or a large celebration. This will help you understand guest list size to book your wedding packages.
Prioritize close friends and family: Start with immediate family and close friends, then expand the list to include extended family, colleagues, and acquaintances as space allows.
Choosing your wedding party is an exciting step. Select those who will stand by your side and support you through your wedding planning journey.
Include close friends and family: Choose individuals who have been significant in your life and whom you trust to support you during the planning process and on the wedding day.
Consider the size of your wedding: The size of your wedding party should be proportional to the size of your wedding. A large wedding party may be appropriate for a big celebration, while planning a small wedding also works as per your preferences.
Your wedding menu is a crucial aspect of your celebration that your guests will remember. Whether you choose a sit-down dinner, buffet, or food station, ensure the menu reflects your tastes and accommodates your guests’ dietary needs.
Schedule a tasting with your caterer: Before finalizing your menu, schedule a tasting session with your caterer. This allows you to sample various dishes and select the best options for your wedding.
Offer various options: Consider catering to different dietary restrictions and preferences by including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other alternative options. This will ensure that all your guests have something they can enjoy.
Include local or seasonal ingredients: Using local or seasonal ingredients can enhance the freshness and flavor of your dishes while also supporting local producers.
Plan how you and your guests will get to and from the wedding venue to ensure everyone arrives on time and in style.
Arrange transportation for the wedding party and immediate family members: Ensure that key participants in your wedding have reliable transportation. This could be a limo, classic car, or other special vehicles.
Consider shuttles or buses for guests: If your venue is far from hotels or has limited parking, provide shuttles or buses to transport guests conveniently.
Plan for special transportation for the bride and groom: Consider a classic car, limousine, or even a horse-drawn carriage to make a memorable entrance or exit.
Your invitations are your guests’ first glimpse into your wedding day. Whether you are planning a small wedding or a big celebration, ensure they reflect your theme and provide essential information.
Venue Details: Include the address, directions, and any specific instructions regarding the venue.
RSVP Information: Provide a way for guests to RSVP, whether it’s a return card, phone number, or online form.
Dress Code: Inform guests of the dress code so they can prepare appropriately for your event.
Booking the best wedding planner, like Lake of the Sky Weddings, is a critical step in planning a wedding. Our wedding plans and packages include caterers, photographers, florists, musicians, and more.
Photographer and Videographer: Capture your special moments with professional photography and videography.
Florist: Create beautiful floral arrangements that enhance your wedding’s theme and atmosphere.
Caterer and Baker: Ensure your guests enjoy delicious food and dessert.
DJ or Band: Provide music for your ceremony and reception.
Officiant: Conduct your wedding ceremony.
Meet with wedding vendors to discuss your vision: Communicate your expectations and ensure they understand your vision.
Ensure they’re available on your date: Confirm the availability of all vendors for your wedding date.
Drafting a seating plan ensures a smooth flow and comfortable experience for your guests during the reception.
Group guests by relationships and interests: Seat guests with people they know or with whom they share common interests to encourage conversation and enjoyment.
Ensure easy access for elderly or disabled guests: Plan the seating arrangement to accommodate guests with special needs and ensure they have easy access to necessary facilities.
If you have out-of-town guests, reserve a block of hotel rooms at a discounted rate.
Choose hotels close to your venue: Select hotels that are convenient for your guests, ideally close to the wedding venue.
Provide guests with booking details: Share all the necessary booking information, including deadlines for securing the discounted rate.
Music sets the mood for your celebration. Create a playlist that includes all your favorite songs and must-have dance tracks.
Include songs for key moments: Plan songs for important moments such as the first dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss, and other significant events.
Ensure a mix of genres: Include various genres to appeal to all your guests and keep the dance floor lively.
Finding the perfect wedding attire is a significant part of the wedding planning journey. This includes your dress, suit, and outfits for the bridal party.
Start shopping early: Begin your search for the perfect dress or suit well in advance to allow time for fittings and alterations.
Schedule fittings: Plan multiple fittings to ensure your attire fits perfectly on your wedding day.
Coordinate with your theme and colors: Choose attire that complements your wedding theme and color scheme, ensuring a cohesive look for the entire bridal party.
Coordinate the outfits for your bridesmaids and groomsmen to match your wedding theme and color palette.
Consider different styles that flatter each member: Choose styles that compliment the body types and preferences of your bridal party members, ensuring everyone looks and feels their best.
Ensure comfort and practicality: Select comfortable attire for your bridal party to wear throughout the day and practical for the planned activities.
Your officiant plays a crucial role in your ceremony. Choose someone who resonates with your beliefs and vision for the ceremony.
Meet with potential officiants: Schedule meetings with different officiants to discuss their approach and see if they align with your vision.
Discuss your ceremony preferences: Talk about your preferences for the ceremony, including any religious or cultural elements you want to include.
Confirm their availability on your date: Ensure the officiant is available on your wedding date and can attend any rehearsals as needed.
Creating a detailed wedding plan ensures everything runs smoothly on your wedding day.
Include time for hair and makeup, photos, and travel: Allocate sufficient time for each activity to avoid feeling rushed.
Share the schedule with your vendors and wedding party: Provide a copy of the schedule to your wedding vendors so everyone is on the same page.
Selecting your wedding rings is a meaningful part of your wedding planning process.
Start shopping early: Begin the search for your wedding rings well in advance to allow time for sizing and any customizations.
Consider your lifestyle when choosing the style and material: Select durable and suitable rings for your daily activities to ensure they remain comfortable and intact.
Ensure your marriage is legally recognized by obtaining your marriage license.
Check the requirements in your state or country: Research the specific requirements, including any waiting periods or fees.
Submit the application within the required timeframe: You must apply for your marriage license within the period specified by your jurisdiction.
Bring necessary documents: Gather all required documents such as identification, birth certificates, and any other crucial documents.
A well-structured wedding plan ensures your wedding day runs smoothly and you stay on schedule.
Start with the ceremony time and work backward: Plan out each segment of the day, starting with the ceremony and working backward to include all preparations.
Allocate time for travel between locations: Ensure you have enough time to travel between the ceremony and reception venues, factoring in potential traffic or delays.
Include buffer time for unexpected delays: Build in extra time throughout the day to account for any unforeseen issues, helping to keep the day stress-free.
